STRANDED

Human figures are self-referential. With Stranded, I wanted to sculpt a very different living being, one impossible for humans to relate to when it comes to scale and shape. This sculpture is a naturalistic representation of a North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena gracilis) and also my way of honouring an almost extinct giant—an estimated 356 individuals are left in the North Atlantic Ocean.
